StudioDV Editing Hint

I was looking around the ‘net the other day, trying to find how you create a looping DVD. I found a post embedded DEEP inside some remote forum so I decided to post it here. Obviously for my future viewing, but also for anyone needing an little hint on how to create one.

Here is a method to create looping videos for VCD/SVCD/DVD. The trick is to use your movie as a motion menu.

– Create your movie as usual.
– Create a blank title on the overlay track. Make sure it is transparent. Resize it to cover your entire movie. If you already have titles in your movie then see my note below.
– Open the title/menu editor. Drop a menu button. Try to select a button with a small border.
– Resize the button as small as you can. Move it far outside the “safe zone” in Title Deko (the area surrounded by a dotted red line). Some buttons almost “disappear” when resized very small.

Studio will refuse to create the disk unless you link the menu button. Create a dummy clip, like a blank title (just a few frames), at the end of your movie and set it as a chapter.

Use fade in/out at beginning and end of the movie for a nicer effect.

Burn and enjoy.

NOTE : If you already use titles in your movie then render your project to an AVI then reimport this AVI in another project to create the disk.

Thanks to Swampler for “polishing” the method.
